Cushions for Africa

I am an artist and illustrator.
As a child I loved how a cushion can be comfort, something that hugs you back. As an adult I wanted to document 30 years of art making by printing it, then I decided to make up cushions with the prints and the results were amazing.
I gave my first batch of 50 cushions away to friends and family, and the feedback was unbelievable .Everyone loved them.
Some of the designs I use are digital collages, created on a rainy Sunday afternoon, I just have fun!
Other images I've used, such as the Lovers Series are all paintings I created in the 1990's when I lived in Brighton Uk and Johannesburg.
I have also included a series of Nude Classical art of some of my favourite artists, such as Caravaggio, Titian and more recent master Modigliani. I took photos of th Monet's water lillies at the Museo de L'orangerie in Paris, and you will find them in the collections here, they look so amazing on cushions.
I use quality printing by The Art Lab at the Old Biscuit Mill in Cape Town. The fabric is a soft canvas which has been colourfast treated. The cushions are washable but it's probably not a good idea to wash them too often.
I have also discovered a love for fabric and its been really enjoyable paring the printed fabric with velvets and suedes at the back of the cushions....they really are luxury cushions....

The choice of colour used for the backing is chosen to match the front print, but a more neutral tone such as charcoal grey, beige or lilac might be used as opposed to bright colours, so the cushion will go with any interior or sofa. The result is a luxury cushion.

This has become quite a family business, as some of the pop art cushions have photos of my dear mum in her youth, glamming it up in Uvongo in the 50's, I have a team of seamstresses which include my Cousin Sandy, My Aunt Gin and my african mother Eugenia, who work tirelessly making the cushions up.

Most of the cushions are currently in stock, and will be packed and shipped with 3 - 5 working days.

If it needs to be printed and made up it will take up to 3 weeks before it is shipped.
